Dermal Fillers vs Botox

Dermal Fillers vs Botox

The popularity of Botox and Fillers is on the rise and it’s important to know the difference as well as what the best option is for you.

Botox

Botox is an injectable medication often used for temporarily smoothing the appearance of wrinkles. The injections paralyze certain muscles by blocking nerves.

This treatment typically last three to five months. Botox can be used by anyone in good health above the age of 18. It can be used to prevent wrinkles or treat existing ones.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are injections that are used to smooth wrinkles or add fullness to the face. Commonly dermal fillers are used to plump the lips or cheeks. Fillers are temporary because the injected substances will be broken down and absorbed by your body over time.

Examples of these include:

  • Hyaluronic acid (Teoxane)
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse)
  • Poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra)

Our clinic currently offers hyaluronic acid fillers.

What option is best for me?

Your choice will entirely depend on what you are looking for. If you are looking to prevent or change the appearance of wrinkles, then Botox may be the best option for you. If you are looking to naturally enhance your features, like your lips or cheeks, then we suggest fillers.

Are there any side effects?

Botox or filler patients can experience bruising and pain in the injection site but those symptoms tend to go away quickly. The good news is that you are in great hands at our clinic. Dr. Joe’s extensive knowledge and expertise allows for a quick and painless procedure.

You may be a great candidate for either option – or both! If you are still unsure what option suits you best, contact us for a consultation
