Sculptra is an injectable that contains poly-L-lactic acid. It stimulates collagen production which in turn supports the structure of the skin as well as helps the skin retain moisture.
Sculptra is injected into the skin to diminish the appearance of facial wrinkles resulting in a softer and more youthful appearance. We will work with you to determine the number of treatment sessions you require.
What is the procedure like?
Prior to your procedure, we will schedule an initial consultation. During the consultation, we will go over your medical history as well as any allergies or medical conditions you have.
The procedure involves an injection into your chosen area. Commonly Sculptra is injected around the nose, mouth or chin to diminish wrinkles and folds.
Aside from the face Sculptra can also be used for:
- A nonsurgical butt lift
- Correction of cellulite
- Correction of chest, elbow and knee wrinkles
Sculptra is also a popular choice to create definition of muscles on the:
- Glutes
- Thighs
- Biceps
- Triceps
To ensure the best results, an average of three treatment sessions over the course of a couple months is needed. Depending on the degree of correction needed as well as your area of concern, we will develop a treatment plan catered especially for you.
Are there any side effects?
Swelling and bruising around the injection area is common. You may also experience redness, tenderness and pain. You can apply a cold pack to the affected area for a few minutes at a time within the first 24 hours to alleviate the side effects.
Results may take a few weeks to show and can last up to two years!
Sculptra is a great option if you are looking to reduce the appearance of skin depressions or if you are looking to firm and rejuvenate your skin. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the body.
